Semen Gresik's Bumi Kartini Empowerment Program Successfully Boosts Residents' Income to Millions of Rupiahs

Rembang, November 15th, 2023 PT Semen Gresik continues to be consistent in the implementation of the Social and Environmental Responsibility (CSR) program through the initiative of the Bumi Kartini women's group program (Buah Manis Karya Wanita Tani) from Ngampel Village, Blora Regency.

The community empowerment program by utilizing yard land with a total of 879 members of the Bumi Kartini Group is managed to improve food security and the economy through planting a variety of nutritious vegetables and fruits, to the utilization of livestock waste into liquid fertilizer (Biourin) which has economic value.

Senior Manager of Communication & CSR of PT Semen Gresik, Dharma Sunyata, said that the community empowerment program succeeded in encouraging income growth for each member of the Bumi Kartini group by an average of Rp 5 - 7 million per year.

"This is a tangible manifestation of the Company's commitment to running its business responsibly and sustainably," Dharma explained in his press statement (11/14).

In addition, he continued, it was recorded for the acquisition of social benefit value or Social Return on Investment (SROI) of 3.83 in 2023, or 3 times higher than the total rupiah realization of program distribution. 

Through the implementation of the Bumi Kartini program initiative, the company is committed to continuing to support community development which includes employment, poverty alleviation, fulfillment of basic needs, and protection of the surrounding environment, to have an impact on the realization of better social community development.
